Your Bulk Bill Physio Brisbane Service Provider

Eligible patients with a Chronic Disease Management Plan or CDM (previously known as an Enhanced Primary Care Plan or EPC plan) and a Medicare referral from their doctor can be bulk billed at South City Physiotherapy.

You can generally get a referral from your doctor for bulk billed physiotherapy visits if your pain meets certain criteria, including experiencing symptoms for more than six months, and/or your injury requires multiple healthcare professionals to treat you.

Bulk billed physiotherapy visits

Bulk billing reduces the physio cost Brisbane patients have to pay for our physiotherapy services.

Once you have a GP referral, you incur no out of pocket costs to access up to five physiotherapy sessions in a calendar year.

How to book bulk billing physiotherapist services

The first step to receiving bulk billed physio Brisbane services is to see your doctor. They will be required to make an assessment of your injury and whether a physiotherapist and/or other allied healthcare professionals will be required to treat you.

When do we bulk bill?

Your doctor will need to determine that your pain and injury meets the Medicare criteria and whether you require a CDM or what previously called an EPC plan.

If so, your doctor can write a GP referral to South City Physiotherapy. Once you have this, get in touch with our administration team and we will arrange a consultation. In some cases, same day appointments may be possible.

Not all physiotherapy services will be covered by Medicare, but we are always on hand to advise eligible patients as to which bulk billing physio service we can provide.

Are you eligible for our bulk billing physio Brisbane services?

Eligible patients are required to have a CDM Plan from their doctor. This will set out how many bulk billing physiotherapist sessions they can receive, up to a maximum of five in a calendar year.

Bulk billing physio means that you will have no out of pocket costs at the time of your treatment — instead, the cost will be met by Medicare.

What are the benefits of bulk billed physiotherapy?

At South City Physiotherapy, we provide bulk billing physio for eligible patients who need complex care for a range of musculoskeletal conditions.

These may be the result of sporting injuries or work-related injuries where the symptoms have persisted for more than six months and the patient has a CDM Plan.

if you are eligible to access bulk billed physiotherapy visits to our clinic, we will bill Medicare directly so you will not be required to pay any fees at the time of your physiotherapist treatments.

This is invaluable to patients who experience chronic pain and have complex care as it reduces the overall cost of physiotherapy care. However, it is important to remember that bulk billing will only cover a maximum of five sessions per year.

What happens in a Medicare bulk billed physiotherapy appointment?

When you a book an appointment with a bulk billing physiotherapist at our Brisbane clinic, your initial consultation will include a review of your CDM (Enhanced Primary Care) GP referral and overall medical history.

Your physiotherapist will also assess your current condition or injury, and from this formulate a treatment plan to address your specific needs.

If you are experiencing chronic pain and have complex care needs this is likely to require multiple physiotherapy sessions. Our services can also include other forms of treatment such as dry needling, for example.

This is when our bulk billing physio Brisbane service is most valuable — it means that if you are eligible we bill Medicare directly so you do not incur out of pocket costs for multiple sessions.

Will Medicare bulk billing cover the full cost of all physiotherapy treatments?

In some cases, a gap fee may be applied to the bulk billing  for the following groups:

  • Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM) or EPC Plan via a Medicare GP referral
  • Workcover
  • Compulsory Third Party (CTP)
  • Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)

Please let our administration staff know at the time of booking if you plan to use one of these types of payments.
