Segmental Stability
Over the past few years there has been a lot of talk about core
stability. Certain muscles have been proven to work to support
the spinal joints. Physiotherapists call this segmental stability.
There are similar muscles in other joints to help “control” movement
and reduce the load on the joint surfaces. If these muscles are
weak the loads can be excessive and lead to pain and arthritis.
Whilst some exercise types help to train the global stabilizing
muscles,
segmental stabilizers are very difficult to teach and
learn. This is particularly true if you have a history of pain
or injury.
At South City Physiotherapy we have staff with special
interest in teaching and training these muscles. We can help
you understand
how to recruit these muscles and help you choose the best gym/home
programme for you.
Workstation Assessments
Many of the patients we see have injuries directly related to
the positions they work in. Quite often this is because they spend
most of their day at a desk or workstation where a lot of their
time is spent at their computers or on the phone or both at one
time.
Arming yourself with some general ergonomic information will usually
improve the situation however, having the physiotherapist come
to your work site and assess your unique situation is significant
in the management of your problem. This is most important when
your problem had become “chronic”.
South City Physiotherapy
offers a WORKSTATION ASSESSMENT where the physiotherapist
comes to your place of work or home office,
assesses your ergonomic set up and leaves you working in a safer
position with recommendations for any equipment changes.

MAXIMISE YOUR BODY'S PERFORMANCE FOR BETTER GOLF!
Physical capability of a golfer including strength and flexibility
is one of the key factors in golf performance. The world of
golf is beginning to realise the importance of getting fit
to play golf rather than playing golf to get fit.
Elite players strive to have a physical edge over their opponents;
golfers who are stronger and more flexible generate greater
swing power. golffitness has
developed a unique service for golfers of all levels
using information derived from current Australian and International
research along with guidance from renowned elite golf physiotherapists.
Although we are not all going to be like Tiger Woods, a golffitness programme
will help to achieve your full golf potential. We offer a musculoskeletal
package that identifies physical limitations; we then create
a golf specific and personalised exercise programme to improve
strength and flexibility.
golffitness invites
you to tune your body for better golf!
